VS BEAUTY PARLOUR

The VS Beauty Parlour project is an interesting new experience for us in designing Artistic Commercial Interior Lighting. It was a renovation project in which designers and owners have a high-end design vision in mind without sacrificing functionality. Choosing versatile earth-tone neutral colours like beige and muted pink, we decided to complement the interior design with accent warm wash lighting, flattering clients’ complexion, and giving a welcoming environment. However, in the hairstyling workspace which needs proper light for high visual tasks, we chose neutral white lighting with high CRI (close to 100) to simulate sunlight colour rendering ability.

Centering on the need for customer satisfaction during long-hour treatment and how they wanted to be seen after being styled in Beauty Salon,  we did some engaging research on how far luminance and light fixtures have an impact on it. We played with light and shadow to impact customers’ looks in a mirror and intervened in finding the right fixture (accurate reflector colour, depth, etc) to support comfort and a relaxing atmosphere.
